Services

Prince Albert Sexual Assault Centre is open to all individuals and is a service without fees. PASAC works with survivors and those affected by sexual and interpersonal violence. We offer counselling, advocacy, court support, hospital attendance and public educations. We serve Prince Albert, La Ronge, Meadow Lake and surrounding areas.

HOW TO ACCESS SERVICES

We accept self referrals by people contacting us via phone, walk in, email, or social media. We also accept referrals from agencies. Please ensure you have client consent before sending the referral to us. When you complete a referral, email it to saw@pacrisis.ca and it will then be assigned to a counselor.

OUR CLIENTS

We work with any age, race, socio-economic status, religion, gender identity and demographic. We do NOT work with any persons charged or convicted with sexually related offences.

NORTHERN CONNECTIONS

In addition to providing service to the Prince Albert area, PASAC also services Meadow Lake which covers areas such as Buffalo Narrows, Beauval, Green Lake, Shellbrook, Spiritwood, Dillon, Patuanak, Makwa, Big Island and Loon Lake; and La Ronge which covers areas such as Grandmother's Bay, Air Ronge, Stanley Mission, Sucker River and Pinehouse.

COUNSELLING

The intention of counselling is to:

  • Address the impact of recent or historical sexual and interpersonal violence

  • Manage trauma symptoms related to sexual and interpersonal violence (i.e. depression, anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares, dissociation, sleep disturbances, self-harm behaviours, body image concerns, relationship issues, etc.)

POLICE & COURT SUPPORT

PASAC counsellors can provide support throughout the legal process which includes reporting to police, court preparation, and court attendance.

HOSPITAL ATTENDANCE

PASAC and/or MCU can attend to provide support at the Prince Albert Hospital if a survivor is undergoing a sexual assault kit, or is in distress. 

PUBLIC EDUCATION

PASAC provides public education to help increase understanding and awareness of sexual and interpersonal violence. Please contact us for more information.

Someone I know has been sexually assaulted...now what?

  • Make sure the survivor is in a safe place, or help them find a safe place

  • Believe the survivor, remind them this is not their fault

  • Assure the survivor of your support and encourage them to seek medical attention

    • Sexually Transmitted Infections​

    • Possibly pregnancy

    • Other injuries

    • Let them know it is their choice to complete a forensic exam

  • Provide support to the survivor if they choose to make a police report​

  • There is no statute of limitations on reporting any sexual assault

  • If the assault or abuse was perpetuated agaisnt a child under the age of 16, you have a Duty to Report, as requried by law. Contact local Police or your local Child and Family Services Agency.

  • Encourage counselling. Call PASAC at any stage.

What should I do if I am having suicidal thoughts?

  • If your life is in danger, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital

  • Reach out to your support people
